The Dress

The mystery has now been unravelled!! After months of speculation the rumor that Kate had chosen a creation from the fashion house of Alexander McQueen was finally confirmed!! I thought Sarah Burton did an impeccable job with the floor-length ivory dress. I loved the lace applique and thought Kate looked stunning! The dress was modern but classic, elegant and beautiful. It made Kate look like a princess..... what more could you want in a wedding dress!! Sarah Burton was seen to be smoothing down the 2.7m train which was big but in no way ostentatious. However I was a little unsure about the veil? I loved the earrings which were a gift from her parents. They were diamond-set stylized oak leaves with a pear-shaped diamond set drop and pave-set diamond acorn suspended in the center. Overall I'd say Kate looked amazing!

And I have to mention how cute William and Harry looked in their uniforms. Princess Diana would have been so proud! twill definitely be a day for Britain to remember.

I also thought the Beckham's looked impeccable as usual.....however a smile would have been a nice addition to Victoria's navy ensemble.....I guess smiling isn't really her thing! at least David looked happy to be on the guest list! simran xx

Feijoa Frenzy

One thing I love about this time of year is that it's feijoa season! and luckily here in Auckland there is an abundance of feijoas to satisfy my cravings! I am a tad obsessed with them, to the point where I could eat 20+ in one sitting!! I am incredibly lucky that one of the many fruit trees in my amazing grandparents garden is a feijoa tree which year after year continues to produce a pretty decent feijoa crop, and this year has been no different. Once again this amazing tree has managed to generate a crop that does not disappoint!! (way better than store bought feijoas...they're just not the same!) We brought home 2 massive bags full a week ago and had to return over Easter weekend for more. I just can't get enough of them and am making the most of these little morsels before they disappear for another year!! The best thing is they're super healthy and filled with goodness!!

I'm not sure about cooking with them however. I am seeing feijoa recipes pop up all over the place at the moment (obviously because it's the season!) but I haven't tasted anything that's made me go wow! The other day I was at a cafe and had a date and feijoa loaf which I felt didn't quite work. I'm sure there a some fantastic recipes out there, I did see a feijoa crumble recipe by Annabel White which looked quite good but I think the best way to enjoy feijoas is in their natural state! If you have an amazing feijoa recipe please share :) simran xx

A Splash of Colour

On dreary days when it's raining, grey and a bit gloomy outside I love to see a bit of colour to brighten up my mood and lift my spirits. As winter slowly starts to creep in, it's easy to get a little caught up in a haze of fog and it's often a lot easier to gravitate towards the black, browns and navys hiding in your wardrobe as opposed to the brighter more exciting colours. I am often guilty of doing this however I find adding a splash of colour in the way of some bright accessories or a brightly coloured bag can help pull me out of the doom and gloom that can often accompany winter. A vase filled with some brightly coloured flowers or a jar filled with lollies on my desk can also help add colour to my life in a different way and helps to brighten my day and put a smile on my face.

These are some fun colourful pictures I found on pinterest which helped brighten up my day today when the weather here in Auckland demanded the day be spent indoors!
